Since 2013 the journal has always had the same ISSN, publisher and English title Safety and Risk of Pharmacotherapy.
The peer reviewed scientific and practical journal the Safety and Risk of Pharmacotherapy was first published in 1994 at the Department of General and Clinical Pharmacology of the Peoples’ Friendship University. It was then called Safety of Medicines and was intended for healthcare professionals.
In 2006– 2012, the journal was published under the title Medicines Safety and Pharmacovigilance. Initially, it was established by the Scientific Centre of Biomedical Technologies of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences together with the Peoples’ Friendship University. Since 2008, it has been published by the Federal State Institution “Scientific Centre for Expert Evaluation of Medicinal Products” (FSI “SCEEMP” of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare) – at present, FSBI “SCEEMP” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
For many years, Safety and Risks of Pharmacotherapy has maintained the status of the only periodical in Russia and the EAEU states that covers research in the most important areas of clinical pharmacology: safety of pharmacotherapy and issues of pharmacovigilance (identification, assessment, and prevention of adverse effects of medicines).
From the moment of its establishment, the journal has published reviews and articles dealing with adverse effects of medicines, reports on adverse events that are of practical value, information on dangerous interactions of medicines, and analytical reviews of international regulators’ recommendations.
